About Contractors Classroom
Contractors Classroom is independent exam preparation for people studying for a California contractor license. It is built on California's own code books and CSLB's published study guides, and it is not connected to the Contractors State License Board.
What Contractors Classroom is
Contractors Classroom is an online classroom for the California contractor license exams. For each of 47 trades and certifications it offers practice questions grouped by exam topic, flashcards, a missed-question review that keeps the questions you got wrong in front of you, progress tracking and audio narration. Short Learning Hub lessons with diagrams cover the harder topics for most trades, and an Application Tool helps you organize your CSLB application packet.
The Law and Business exam, which most applicants take alongside their trade exam, is included with every trade.
Who it is for
It is for people who work in a trade and are getting ready to sit the CSLB trade exam and the Law and Business exam: journey-level workers moving toward their own license, foremen, and owners adding a classification. You do not need an account to try it.
What it costs and how to try it
Each trade course is a one-time $249 purchase for one trade or classification, with no subscription, and Law and Business is included. Every trade has a free preview that opens the real classroom with no sign-up and gives you the first question from each category of that trade, plus Law and Business, so you can judge the questions and explanations before you pay.
California only
Everything here is written for California: the licensing rules, the Title 24 building codes, Cal/OSHA Title 8 and CSLB's study guides. It will not prepare you for another state's exam, and rules change, so confirm current requirements with CSLB.
English and Spanish
The website and the eight demo videos are available in English and Spanish. The classroom and the practice questions are in English today, and translating the questions is not part of the course yet.
Independent, with no guarantees
Contractors Classroom is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Contractors State License Board. CSLB sets the exams, the requirements and the fees. No course can guarantee a passing result, and we do not publish pass rates or testimonials.
How the content is made
Every lesson and practice question is grounded in the current California code books and CSLB materials, drafted with software assistance and reviewed against the code text before it is published. The method page names the books and explains how to report a mistake.
